CUMULUS MEDIA | Des Moines has an immediate opening for a full-time Business Development Representative to join the Multi-Media Sales Team working with businesses in the Des Moines area as well as across the US. With multi-media business options that include both traditional media and highly targeted digital products, you will offer marketing options including:

  • Radio, Audio Streaming and Podcast Advertising

We’re seeking people interested in modern, multifaceted media sales – that means selling multiple mediums and solutions. Successful candidates will be able to identify and develop new business opportunities; grow existing client relationships; offer solutions that help clients achieve their business goals; and meet or exceed digital sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify client business needs by gaining a deep understanding of their goals, objectives, and processes as well as their external environment, including key market and consumer trends, to proactively develop customized advertising solutions to meet client objectives.
  • Excel at prospecting and aggressively seeking new clientele by networking, cold calling, referrals, or other means to build and maintain a full pipeline of sales prospects.
  • Deliver effective digital sales presentations using Cumulus’ robust digital decks, data, and research.
  • Have strong listening and presentation skills and the ability to quickly build lucrative client relationships.
  • Follow all company procedures for preparing orders, resolving billing issues, submitting regular reports regarding digital sales, pipeline lists and forecasts.
  • Stay abreast of the competitive digital landscape and emerging technologies to best position Cumulus in the marketplace.
  • Think creatively and generate original ideas.
  • Possess people skills which allow you to get out in front of problems and proactively provide solutions to deliver exceptional client service.

Job Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of successful outside sales experience required; exposure to Media Sales preferred.
  • Understanding of lead generation and ability to connect with viable prospects.
  • Strong sales acumen and proficiency in all phases of the sales cycle, outbound phone sales, and new account development.
  • Ability to gain referral business by providing support, information, qualitative research, and recommending new opportunities for profit and/or service improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience developing new business relationships in an outside-sales role.
  • Excellent presenter to clients of sales opportunities and post-sale successes
  • Comprehension of sales metrics, requirements to fill a sales funnel/robust pipeline of residual business.
  • Tech-savvy – working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite programs and CRM tools/software platforms.
  • Positive attitude and passion for the job
  • Flexible and creative; willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Excellent communication skills.
