CUMULUS MEDIA | Westwood One has an immediate opening for a full time Director, Broadcast Systems Development to support the Engineering team.  The ideal candidate will be action oriented, customer focused, have great communication skills, be an active listener, have the ability to problem solve and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible to maintain >99.999 reliability of broadcast systems through diversity of systems and redundancy.
  • Utilization of proactive monitoring tools to ensure quality of service
  • Responsible for management of Westwood One broadcast software systems and platforms
  • Coordination with Westwood One Engineering, Vendors and Developers
  • Provide vision and strategy to streamline operations systems while striving to improve reliability
  • Coordination with VP of Network Technology of daily activities and projects
  • Direct interfacing and cooperative efforts with Westwood One IT department for seamless integration of broadcast systems and software
  • Coding and testing of various software including web development for production rollout
  • Other Duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience
  • Development capabilities, Bash, PHP, C, C++, C#, Perl, Ruby
  • Database administration knowledge, MySQL, MS-SQL, Postgresql
  • Computer audio including WAV, MP2, MP3, AAC
  • Broadcast experience, preferably radio or network radio.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Solid analytical skills to solve medium to complex technical issues
  • Ability to assist others with technical anomalies and resolve issues
  • Capable of handling multiple emergency situations in scientific manner
  • Ability to troubleshooting advanced technical systems to source code level
  • Ability to use/learn the following equipment/materials: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, 5, 6, 7 Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, Windows 7, Windows 10, Active Directory, MySQL, Microsoft IIS, Apache, DevOps environment
  • Experience with Amazon Web Solutions and Products such as AWS, S3, EC2 and more
  • GITHUB, Repos, Kubernetes, and docker experience
  • Atom, Visual Studio, Slack, QT IDE Experience
  • Enterprise backup strategies including tape, off-side and disk backups to ensure data integrity of development projects
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
