Job Description



CUMULUS MEDIA | (BATON ROUGE) is seeking a talented individual to present traffic information from the studio during AM Drive which includes reporting on wrecks, drive times, construction zones, delays and alternative routes and run the board for various remotes and live sports games.


CUMULUS | Baton Rouge currently features 5 stations in the Baton Rouge area and surrounding counties.  Our stations include:  94.1 WEMX-FM, WXOK HEAVEN-AM1460, WRQQ-FM CLASSIC HITS 103.3FM, KQXL Q106.5 FM,  and ALT 92.3FM  



  • Gather regional traffic information covering Southwestern and Southeastern Louisiana. Enter details into internal computer and web systems.
  • Announces the latest accidents and traffic hold-ups on affiliated broadcast stations.
  • Reads traffic reports, commercials and public service messages to listeners on the radio from a variety of in-take sources; canvasses local, state and national traffic news to determine significance and prioritization.
  • Identifies, researches, and creates copy regarding traffic to feature during on-air shift; finalizes content using digital audio editing software.
  • Manages gathered information; keeps all facts straight, makes sure details are accurate and current, and tracks any changes.
  • Maintains crucial deadlines in order to provide traffic updates in a timely fashion.
  • May prepare written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs or other social-media platforms.
  • Will require flexibility in work schedules. Weekends and holidays required. Ability to fill in on weekdays strongly preferred.
  • Maintain knowledge of metro interstates, highways, and streets.
  • May be responsible for operating control board for studios and remote programming.
  • May be responsible for producing a compelling radio show by using creativity, imagination, and exercise of independent professional judgment in writing, producing, interviewing, taping, or broadcasting on-air content.
  • Protects station's license by censoring and deleting words/phrases not permitted on Air.
  • Produces commercial production


Job Requirements


  • Proficient with basic computer skills such as keyboard input
  • Knowledgeable of local coverage area geography and roadways, mass transit and traffic patterns
  • Pleasant, charismatic and excellent pronunciation
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, “newsroom-like” collaborative environment
  • Some college radio or small market radio experience is required/preferred.
  • Previous board operation experience preferred
  • All new hires must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the date of hire, subject to legally mandated accommodations.
  • Must have some broadcast experience & familiar with digital audio editing software.
  • People Skills / Team Player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of all FCC rules and regulations
  • Socially informed and perceptive; up-to-date and in tune daily with the local and national trends and specialized knowledge of topics/events related to on-air discussions and station format.
